Wheatbelt

B&T Drilling provides water bore drilling and bore cleanout services for agricultural and rural properties throughout selected areas of the Western Australian Wheatbelt.

Our service area includes locations north towards Moora, east towards Merredin and south towards Arthur River, subject to the scope of the project and mobilisation requirements.

Agricultural Water Bore Drilling and Maintenance Across the Wheatbelt

Drilling for Wheatbelt Conditions

Reliable access to water can be important for livestock, spraying, washdown, gardens and general farm operations. However, groundwater conditions across the Wheatbelt vary considerably.

Drilling may encounter clay, weathered formations, hard rock and groundwater with varying levels of salinity or mineral content. Bore depth, flow and water quality can also differ between nearby locations.

Before drilling, we consider available bore records, geological and groundwater information, the surrounding landscape and the intended use of the water. This helps establish realistic expectations and identify a practical drilling location.

Groundwater quantity and quality cannot be confirmed before drilling. Testing is recommended before using bore water for drinking, irrigation, livestock or any application with defined water-quality requirements.

Water Bore Drilling for Farms and Rural Properties

We provide water bore drilling for farms, livestock properties, rural businesses and larger residential blocks throughout the areas we service.

Each project is planned around equipment access, operating space, ground conditions and the proposed use of the bore. We discuss the drilling process, pricing structure and likely local conditions before mobilisation.

During drilling, we monitor the formations and groundwater inflows encountered. Where practical, we keep the property owner informed and discuss whether drilling should continue if conditions differ from the initial expectations.

Cleaning and Redevelopment of Existing Bores

Existing rural bores may experience reduced flow, sediment, discoloured water or iron and mineral buildup over time.

Depending on the bore’s construction and condition, cleaning may involve airlifting, air lancing, flushing or bore-specific chemical treatment. Once the work is complete, the discharge is observed, and the results are explained to the property owner.

Cleaning may improve an underperforming bore, but the outcome depends on its age, construction, condition and the cause of the problem. We do not undertake underground casing realignment or structural column and windmill repairs.

EXPLORE OUR SERVICES

Water bore drilling and selected exploration services across Western Australia

B&T Drilling provides hard rock water bore drilling, bore cleanouts and selected Reverse Circulation exploration drilling services across Western Australia.

Our main focus is water bore drilling for rural properties, farms, commercial sites and larger residential blocks of one acre or more. We also support selected exploration projects where the proposed work suits our equipment and capabilities.

Each project is planned around the site conditions, access requirements and intended outcome. Our crews place a strong emphasis on safety, reliable equipment, clear communication and straightforward pricing before work begins.

Hard-Rock Water Bore Drilling

Water bore drilling for rural properties, farms, commercial sites and larger residential blocks throughout the Perth Hills and regional Western Australia.

Our equipment is configured for drilling through granite and other hard-rock formations. Before drilling begins, we review the available groundwater information, nearby bore records, site access and local geological conditions to help plan the work.

Groundwater depth, flow rate and quality cannot be guaranteed before drilling.

Bore Cleanouts and Maintenance

Cleaning and redevelopment services for bores affected by reduced flow, sediment, iron-related buildup or mineral deposits.

Depending on the bore’s construction and condition, the work may include airlifting, air lancing, flushing or bore-specific chemical treatment.

Cleaning may improve bore performance in suitable circumstances, but not every bore can be fully restored. B&T Drilling does not carry out structural column repairs or underground casing realignment.

Reverse Circulation Exploration Drilling

Selected RC exploration drilling services for mineral exploration programs across Western Australia.

Our Thor RC 5000 is configured primarily for hard-rock water bore drilling while retaining the capability to undertake RC drilling when required.

Before accepting an exploration project, we review the expected geology, target depths, access conditions, sampling requirements and site standards to confirm that the work is suitable for our equipment and crew.

Groundwater Assessment and Bore Siting

We combine available groundwater records, nearby bore information, local drilling experience and, where requested, traditional water divining to help identify a practical drilling location.

While no method can guarantee groundwater, its depth, flow rate or quality, this assessment supports a more informed decision before drilling begins.

Common Questions

Essential Questions Answered

Our main operational base is in Bullsbrook, and we regularly service the Perth Hills and regional areas extending North to Moora, East to Merredin, and South to Arthur River. However, our exploration and heavy-duty rigs are fully equipped for remote deployment. Over the last few decades, we have successfully mobilised to remote stations and mining tenements across the Murchison, Pilbara, and Goldfields regions. If you are outside our service map area, contact Jordan to discuss mobilisation options.

Water divining (or dowsing) is a traditional method we use to locate underground streams and fractures, particularly in the challenging granite geography of the Perth Hills. While divining relies on traditional field techniques, we don’t rely on it alone. We back our divining with decades of historical local geological data, tracking water depth, supply, and quality across WA. This combination of traditional skill and extensive data mapping gives our clients an incredibly high success rate and honest advice before we begin drilling.

It comes down to geology and depth targets:

  • Aircore Drilling is fast, highly cost-effective, and ideal for early-stage (grassroots) exploration. It is used primarily in softer, unconsolidated ground to take shallow geological samples.

  • Reverse Circulation (RC) Drilling uses a pneumatic hammer to blast through much harder rock formations. It allows us to go significantly deeper while maintaining a completely uncontaminated, high-quality sample return, making it the preferred method for defining proven mineral deposits.

You don’t always need to pay for a brand new drill. Bores degrade over time due to mineral buildup, shifting ground, or iron oxide blockages. We specialise in rural bore rejuvenation. Our team can perform high-pressure air lancing, chemical iron-oxide cleanouts, and windmill column or casing repairs. We will always run a pumping capacity test first to give you an honest appraisal of whether your existing bore can be saved or if a re-drill is the most cost-effective long-term solution.

Safety is non-negotiable for us, whether we are on a private hobby farm or a Tier 1 mining lease. B&T Drilling operates under a robust, audited Safety Management System (SMS). All our rigs are meticulously mechanically maintained to prevent downtime and incidents, and our drilling crews are fully trained, ticketed, and competent in their specific roles. We ensure total compliance with Western Australian mining safety regulations and site-specific hazard management protocols.
